Glass artist, Skelmorlie, Scotland

I am a practicing architectural glass artist based in the west of Scotland. I studied glass at Edinburgh College of Art before setting up my studio Cara Glass in 1997. My work spans a wide range of situations ranging from small scale gallery pieces up to large scale architectural works. I am also engaged in a range of public art initiatives and continue to develop ideas related to art in the public realm. In the 21st century stained glass finds itself in a fairly precarious position as an expressive medium and my key focus now is highlighting the potential of this magical art form.

As part of my project I will celebrate stained glass as an expressive art form in the 21st century, develop ideas that focus on interesting people, places and their histories, while trying to break new ground through an art form that has existed since the 9th century.
